Gryphons even series defeating Golden Hawks 3-2

WATERLOO, Ont.- The Gryphon men's hockey team evened their playoff series tonight following a 3-2 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo, Ont. The third and deciding game of the best-of-three series will now take place Sunday (Feb. 17) in Guelph at 7:30 p.m.
 
Third year forward JT. MacDonald (Niagara Falls, Ont.) scored at 18:59 in the third period to secure the victory for the Gryphons and force a game three in the series.
 
The Gryphons had to come from behind for the win after the Golden Hawks scored their goals at the six and eight minute mark in the first period. Guelph then earned both their goals in the second half of the first period to tie of the game. Rookie Nicklas Huard (Thunder Bay, Ont.) scored both goals for the Gryphons at 9:50 and 15:40 to even the score at 2-all to finish the first period. The rest of the game was contested scoreless until MacDonalds winner in the third.  
 
Andrew Loverock (Elmvale, Ont.) made 25 saves for the win. The Gryphons outshot the Golden Hawks 41-27 in the contest.
