Gryphons swept by the Rams

The Guelph Gryphon women's volleyball team dropped three straight sets today to the Ryerson Rams in Toronto.  Set scores were 25-9, 25-20 and 25-17. The Gryphons drop to 4-10 on the season.

The match started poorly for the Gryphons as they immediately fell behind 9-0. Guelph was never able to build any momentum losing the first set 25-9. The Gryphons were more competitive in set two staying close through the first half of the set, but Ryerson forged ahead through the middle points winning 25-20. The third set saw Guelph playing from behind almost the whole way eventually falling 25-17.

Coach Funk said, "This was an extremely disappointing match for us. Our last 2 matches have shown the extremes of our skills. As well as we executed skills last week, we were equally unable to execute skills this week. Unfortunately, we are now down to our last chance tomorrow against Toronto."

Leading the Gryphons was Julie Gordon (Barrie, Ont.) who tallied eight points including six kills and two service aces.  Devon Jones chipped in with seven points (5 kills, 2 blocks).

The Gryphons will return to Toronto tomorrow, this time to face the Toronto Varsity Blues (7-7). Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
