GUELPH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons women's volleyball team will head into the OUA playoffs with plenty of momentum. The playoff-bound Gryphons closed out their 2025-26 regular season schedule with back-to-back home wins over the Waterloo Warriors on Friday night (Feb. 13) and Saturday night (Feb. 14). The Gryphons end the 20-game regular season with a record of 14-6, good for 5th-place in the 15-team OUA standings. The No. 5-seeded Gryphons will now head to Kingston to take on the No. 4-seeded Queen's Gaels on Friday, Nov. 20 in an OUA quarterfinal matchup. Both the Gryphons and Gaels finished the regular season with identical 14-6 records, but Queen's holds the tiebreaker thanks to their two head-to-head wins over Guelph on Jan. 9 and 10, which also mark the last time the Gryphons lost a game, with Guelph's overall win streak now having reached eight.
Game 1 (Friday, Feb. 13) – Gryphons win 3-1 over Warriors on Friday night

On Friday night at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons hosted the Waterloo Warriors, with Waterloo fighting for their playoff lives and Guelph's hopes of home-court advantage in the opening round still in play. The Gryphons would win in four sets, with
Briar Crerar (17 points),
Ainsley Preszcator (15 points) and
Brooke Preszcator (14 points) all helping lead the way for Guelph's 13th win of the season. The Warriors got a big night from Stella McKenna (22.5 points, 20 kills) but it was not enough, as Waterloo's playoff hopes took a hit, with Guelph improving to 13-6 and Waterloo falling to 9-10.
Game 2 (Saturday, Feb. 14) – Gryphons close out regular season with five-set win over Waterloo
29-27, 18-25, 23-25, 25-22 & 15-11
On Saturday night (Feb. 14), the Gryphons women's volleyball team picked up a five-set victory over the Warriors to seal the No. 5-seed in the OUA standings, while eliminating Waterloo from postseason play. The Gryphons were able to come-from-behind, after trailing 2-sets-to-1, with Guelph winning 25-22 in the fourth set to force a decisive fifth, where the Gryphons would win it 15-11 to seal the match.

Ainsley Preszcator (19 points) and
Brooke Preszcator (18.5 points) once again led the way for U of G scoring.
Sophie Sommerfeldt (47 assists),
Payton King (21 digs) and
Alexandra Nicholson-Clarke (4 blocks) all made key contributions, helping the Gryphons finish the regular season with an impressive 14-6 record. Saturday night's game also marked Guelph's 'Senior Day' game, with six graduating athletes (

Briar Crerar,
Jordan Vang,
Payton King,
Nikina Bear-Lowen and Sophie Kalbfleisch) celebrated during pre-game ceremonies. The Gryphons will now head to Kingston on Friday, Feb. 20 for an OUA quarterfinal matchup with the Queen's Gaels.
