OTTAWA - The University of Guelph women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the No. 6 ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday afternoon.

The teams battled back and forth in an up and down first set but Ottawa pulled ahead at the technical timeout and held on for a 25-22 win. Set 2 was another back and forth battle with both teams giving up runs of points but the Gee-Gees pulled away to a 25-20 victory. The third set started poorly for Guelph as they trailed 8-2 early on but they closed the gap slightly and got as close as 23-21 before falling 25-22.

Coach Funk stated, "We had a better compete level today than we did in our last match but we shot ourselves in the foot with untimely errors which resulted in the loss."

The Guelph offense was led by Stephanie Vickers with 8 points (6 kills, 1 ace, 1 block).

The Gryphons next action is at home next Friday and Saturday as they take on the Queen's Gaels and the RMC Paladins.
