Gryphons blanked 3-0 by winless Lancers


The Gryphon women's volleyball team lost to the Lancers this evening 0-3, set scores were 25-23, 25-19, 25-18

The Gryphons drop to 1-2, while the Lancers advance to 1-2 on the season.

Windsor's Brianna Balzer was solid throughout the match, picking up a game-high 12 kills and not committing any errors on 27 total attacks. Balzer was complimented by rookies Shannon Dean (Whitby, Ont.) and Roshanna Matthews (Brampton, Ont.), who added nine and eight kills respectively in the win.  Matthews garnered a match-high 14 points by tacking on three solo blocks and two block assists on the evening.  Both Matthews and Dean picked up two aces. 

The Lancers finished the contest with a 25.2% kill effectiveness, compared to 9.2% from the Gryphons. Julie Gordon led Guelph with seven kills and added five digs in a losing cause. 

The Gryphons will travel to Ottawa to take on the GeeGees Saturday November 3 at 2PM and will then return home on November 9, to match up against the Gaels.
