The University of Guelph women's volleyball team was beaten in straight sets tonight by the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Center. Set scores were 15-25, 24-26 & 13-25.
Ottawa used strong serving in the first and third sets to build big leads in cruising to victory. The Gryphons only bright spot was the second set which was a close affair throughout. Guelph came back from a 22-20 deficit to even the set at 24, but Ottawa was able to close it out to win 26-24.
Coach Funk stated, "They pretty much served us off the court tonight which was the whole story of the match. We couldn't handle Myriam English's serve and our offense struggled because of this."
The Gryphons offense was led by Erinn Bickle with 10 points (7 kills, 3 blocks).
Guelph is on the road next weekend at McMaster and Ryerson.
