Gryphons Stymied by Warriors

The Guelph Gryphons threw plenty of pucks and bodies at the Waterloo net on Thursday night but were stymied by Waterloo goaltender Justin Leclerc in a 4-0 Waterloo win.

Despite outshooting the Warriors 16-9 in the first period the Warriors led 1-0 after one on a goal by Blake Chartier.

The only goal in the second period was scored by Waterloo's Tyler Moir shorthanded after Guelph had a couple of good scoring chances.

In the third Kirt Hill of the Warriors scored on the powerplay  and Jarrett Schnurr sealed the victory for Waterloo with a late marker.

Cody St. Jacques went the distance in nets for Guelph and Leclerc earned the shutout for the Warriors despite being outshot 47-31 on the evening.

Next action for the Gryphons is Saturday Nov. 19 when the Gryphons host the U.O.I.T. Ridgebacks at 3 P.M.
