Gryphons match up against Ravens, lose 0-6

Anytime the Guelph Gryphons and Carleton Ravens get together there is sure to be fireworks.  In a nasty game that featured 23 power plays and 216 penalty minutes, the Ravens won 6-0.

Both teams had plenty of practice on special teams, with the Ravens scoring a power play goal and two shorthanded goals.

The Ravens lead 2-0 after the first period with goals by Jeff Hayes (Ottawa, ON) and Joe Manley (Ottawa, ON). They added one in the second on a shorthanded goal by Ryan Berard (Niagara Falls, ON).

In the third period Berard scored again, this time on the power play and Joe Pleckaitis (Ottawa, ON) added another and finally Linden Bahn (Kinbum, ON) scored shorthanded to round out the scoring.  Most troubling for Guelph was going 0/12 on their power play.

Cody St. Jacques (Iroquois Falls, ON) went the distance for Guelph in net, while Matt Dopud (Point-Claire, QC) earned the shutout for Carleton.

The Gryphons are in action next this evening (Oct. 15) when they continue their road trip to North Bay to play the Nipissing Lakers at 7:00 p.m.
