WINDSOR - The University of Guelph women's volleyball team completed a sweep of their weekend road trip on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory over the Windsor Lancers. Set scores were 25-8, 25-16, 25-14
The Gryphons were in control of the match right from the start as they came out strong and overwhelmed Windsor in the first set winning 25-8.Â
The second set was much closer in the early going with Guelph leading only 16-13 at the second technical timeout. Soon after the Gryphons expanded their lead to 7 points and never looked back winning 25-16.Â
In set 3, Guelph again opened up a big lead early leading 16-5 at the technical timeout and cruised from there closing out the match at 25-14.Â
"Our squad really came in focused and consistent to tonight's match. It was a point of emphasis to ignore the scoreboard and play every point solid and I thought our team accomplished that," stated Coach Funk.Â
Brooke Lloyd led the Gryphons statistically with 13 points (8 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks) followed by
Kylen Van Osch with 8 (4 kills, 4 blocks).Â
Guelph will open at home next week versus Waterloo on Friday at 6pm followed by Laurier on Saturday night.
