On Saturday (Oct. 3) the Gryphons fell to the Queens Gaels 20-11 and then bounced back to tie the McGill Martlets 11-11, with both games being played in Montreal.
In the first game, Guelph faced a fierce competitor in Queens. They took control from the start and led 12 - 5 at the half. The Gryphons fought back and kept the second half to 8-6, falling overall by a score of 20-11.
The next game they faced Mcgill who defeated them a week ago, 14-7. The first half was full of action and left the Gryphons trailing 7 - 5. As the Gryphons put their ground ball game back on track they came out on the field in a fury, controlling the game and leading Mcgill 11-10 with a few minutes remaining. McGill finally tied the game at 11-11 with a minute left.
Leading the Gryphons in scoring this weekend was Stacey Pogue with seven goals and one assist, while Julie Howe chipped in four goals and Sarah Finbow added three goals and two assists.
