Name: Sadie Ford
Position: Yoga, Pilates, TRX and Flex Instructor
What are you responsible for in your position?
Safely leading and guiding participants through movement that will help to make them stronger, more mobile and correct internal energetic imbalance. Leading to happier, healthier, whole beings who are then able to perform better in their everyday lives, whether in physicality or academia.
Why do you love working for the UofG, Department of Athletics?
I get to meet and take part in so many people's lives. I get to share in "A-Ha" moments on a regular basis and that is a beautiful thing.
What was your proudest moment in this job?
Having other instructors regularly attend my classes.
I’m proud to work for the best University in Canada because
I did my undergrad here! I think Guelph is a very unique post secondary atmosphere, it is a safe and open environment where people are striving to be, to be comfortable in their bodies, to learn and grow as much as possible without so much of the "trying to achieve a status" mentality that exists on so many other university campuses. I love that I regularly see wool socks and high heels walking side by side.
What have you learned from this job?
To use the acknowledgement of your current state as a stepping stone, not as a crutch.
If you could give advice to students looking for a campus job what would it be?
I would first decide what job or kind of job you are interested in, then look into who is the head of your proposed department, contacting them directly can give you a big advantage.
