Guelph Jr Gryphon logoThe University of Guelph Department of Athletics is proud to partner with minor sport programs and organizations within Guelph as Junior Gryphons, including:

  • Guelph Youth Volleyball Association
  • Guelph Rugby Football Club

These partnerships are extremely important to the University of Guelph’s Department of Athletics. These minor sport groups have the right to wear and represent the official Gryphon Logo on all of their jerseys and team wear. The University of Guelph Department of Athletics works together with each organization to service their needs. Jr Gryphon athletes’ benefits include:
  • Free access to all Gryphon varsity games (online ticket code provided each season). Note: Excludes OUA playoffs, Frosty Mug and football homecoming.
  • 25% discount at Gryph’s Locker. Some exclusions apply..
  • Team order discounts at Gryph’s Locker.

GUELPH MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

In January 2013, Gryphon Athletics signed a multi-year partnership with the Guelph Minor Hockey Association focusing on building a strong hockey community in the City of Guelph.

GUELPH YOUTH BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION

In March 2015, Gryphon Athletics signed a multi-year partnership with Guelph Youth Basketball. Starting in September of 2016, over 600 youth from the Guelph area, ages five-to-18, proudly will wear the same colours and logo as the Gryphons men's and women's varsity teams.

GUELPH YOUTH VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION

In July 2016, Gryphon Athletics signed a multi-year partnership with the Guelph Youth Volleyball Association. Starting in September of 2016, over 150 youth from the Guelph area, ages 10 to 18, proudly will wear the same colours and logo as the Gryphons men's and women's varsity teams.

GUELPH SOCCER

In September 2016, Gryphon Athletics signed a multi-year partnership with the Guelph Soccer Association. Guelph Soccer is home to the Jr. Gryphons - a player-centred soccer development model that is among the best in the province. Our programs are designed for any player wishing to play in a more challenging & competitive environment.

GUELPH RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

In April 2019, Gryphon Athletics signed a multi-year partnership making the Guelph Rugby Football Club the seventh different youth sports organization in Guelph to join the Jr. Gryphon family. U17 rep travel teams in Guelph will now wear the Gryphon trademark logo, as well as the GRFC's non-travel house league teams.

GUELPH ROWING CLUB

In January 2025, Gryphon Athletics signed a partnership agreement with the Guelph Rowing Club. The Club welcomes youth from Guelph and the surrounding areas to participate in the Junior Gryphon Learn-to-Row (LTR) and Junior Gryphon Skills Development follow-up program.

QUICK FACTS 

  • The Junior Gryphons Learn-to-Row is offered to two age groups:  morning camp for 11-14 and afternoons for 14-17.  Junior Gryphons Learn-to-row introduces the sport of rowing with an emphasis on physical activity, fun, and above all, water safety.
  • The Junior Gryphon Skills Development Program is offered to the same age groups; 11-14 in the morning, 14-17 in the afternoons, for those who have completed LTR  seeking to build their skills, or those who have previous rowing experience.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS GUELPH/WELLINGTON BASKETBALL

In 2019 the University of Guelph Department of Athletics signed a partnership with The Special Olympics Guelph Basketball program. The program started with 13 athletes and three coaches over 20 years ago. Today, the program has grown to 60 athletes, 30 volunteer coaches and five teams. These five teams from Guelph will now be sporting the Junior Gryphon logo for local and provincial tournaments. Read the full story here.
