GUELPH, Ont. - On Sunday afternoon (Sept. 27) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex in Guelph, the Gryphons men's soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit in the second half but would ultimately fall just short of drawing level, with the Gryphons dropping a tight, 3-2, decision to the Brock Badgers. Fergus Pender helped spark the home side, scoring a minute into the half to cut the deficit in half and get his team back into the match. The Gryphons continued to apply the pressure towards the Brock net throughout the half and were rewarded in the 82nd minute with
Jahmal Boursiquot scoring his 4th goal of the season to tie the game up at 2-2.
With time winding down in the 90 minutes, the Badgers would stun the Gryphons with the go-ahead goal in the 87th minute as Tiago Pereira scored his second goal of the game, which proved to be the match-winner. With the loss, the Gryphons see their record fall to 3-3-1 (wins-losses-ties), putting them tied for 5th-place in the OUA West division standings. The Gryphons will now turn their attention to the No. 1-ranked team in the country in the undefeated York Lions. The Gryphons will travel to York University to face the reigning national champions on Friday night (Oct. 2) from York Stadium.
