HAMILTON, Ont. - Friday night (Sept. 25, 2026) at Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton, the Guelph Gryphons men's soccer team fell, 4-1, to the McMaster Marauders. The host Marauders started fast, opening the scoring in the 3rd minute with a goal from Nicolas Fontecha. It marked the first of three first-half goals for McMaster, who took a commanding 3-0 lead by the 44th minute. The Gryphons were able to get on the board in the 46th minute thanks to third-year winger
Ethan Fraser (Guelph, ON) scoring his first goal of the season. But McMaster would put the game out of reach for good in the 82nd minute with a goal from Niko Eskit to cap the 4-1 win for the Marauders. With the result, both McMaster and Guelph now share identical records at 3-1-2 (wins-draws-losses), with the 12-game regular season schedule having now reached the halfway point. The Gryphons will now return home for a Sunday (Sept. 27) afternoon match against the Brock Badgers (2-0-5), with kickoff set for 3:15pm at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
