TORONTO, Ont. – On Tuesday, September 2, the U SPORTS office released its latest national rankings for the 2025-26 season. The Guelph Gryphons women's rugby team is the lone U of G varsity team in this week's rankings, debuting at No. 2 in the first U SPORTS women's rugby rankings of the season. The Gryphons opened up their season with a 36-21 home win over the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 30) where six Gryphon players scored a try in their victory. The No. 2-ranked Gryphons (1-0) are at home once again on Saturday (Sept. 6) when they host the McMaster Marauders.
The Gryphons football team, ranked No. 7 nationally a week ago, dropped out of the U SPORTS Top 10 following their Week 2 road loss to now No. 3-ranked Western Mustangs. For more information on the latest U SPORTS rankings, head to
