The Gryphons (1-2) return home to Alumni Stadium for Week 4 after
a hard-fought 31-17 road victory over the Windsor Lancers last week for their first win of the season. Two long touchdown runs in the 4th quarter from
Donavin Milloy and
Isaiah Smith helped clinch the important road win for the Gryphons, who
moved back into the national Top 10 in the latest U SPORTS rankings. The Ottawa Gee-Gees (2-1) opened their 2025 season with two straight wins before falling last week to the No. 3-ranked Western Mustangs, 55-29. The Gee-Gees are led by QB Josh Janssen who is in his third season as the team's starting quarterback. Janssen last week had a season-best performance, completing 31 of 42 passes for 328 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Chilliwack, BC native is currently tied for the OUA lead with 7 touchdown passes. One of Janssen's favourite targets this season has been Noah Avery. Avery was held in check last week by the Mustangs as he had 6 receptions for 43 yards. The Brantford, Ontario native has been one of the top receivers in the conference as he ranks fourth in the OUA with 20 receptions and 255 receiving yards. Despite only averaging 380.3 yard per game, Ottawa has scored an average of 31.4 points per game.

The Gryphons will look to continue to rack up the yards, averaging 551.3 yards per game (2nd in OUA) through the first three weeks of the season. The offence was boosted last week by the return of running back
Donavin Milloy who made his 2025 season debut against the Windsor Lancers. Milloy (Hamilton, ON) finished the Saturday night matchup versus the Lancers with 16 carries for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a game-winning 69-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter.
Harry Varty has emerged as one of the team's top targets at receiver. The marketing management major is coming off an impressive 7 reception game for 111 yards and a touchdown last week. The Port Hope, Ontario native ranks 6th in the conference with 15 receptions and 5th in the OUA with 252 receiving yards through three games. The Gryphon defence is coming off an outstanding game over the Lancers where they held their rivals from Windsor to only 10 points, including just 3 points in the final three quarters while limiting them to 385 total yards. The defence was able to generate pressure last week collecting a season-high 5 sacks, led by
Jack Cobb's 1.5 sacks. Guelph native
Anakin Guthrie played a pivotal role in the secondary as he had two interceptions in the team's win.
Nicholas Metron was all over the field starting at linebacker last week as he made a game-high 11.5 tackles, 11 solo.
The Gryphons and Gee-Gees last meeting came in the 2024 OUA playoffs,
with Guelph knocking off Ottawa, 25-16, in an OUA quarterfinal matchup in Guelph a season ago. The last regular season meeting between the two teams happened back on September 17, 2022 in Ottawa where the Gee-Gees defeated the Gryphons 46-10.
