GUELPH, Ont. – Friday night (Jan. 31, 2025) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons men's basketball team lost a tightly-contested affair against the visiting Windsor Lancers. The Gryphons, who shot 45.5% from the field on the night as a team, received a standout performance from first-year guard Jack Tunstill, but it was not enough in the end, as the Lancers used a strong second half performance to escape Guelph with a 82-73 victory. With the win, the Lancers improve to 10-8 on the season, while the Gryphons fall to 5-13.
 
Jack Tunstill, a 6-foot-2 guard from St. Thomas, Ontario, finished the night with a team-high 19 points (9-of-10 shooting), 7 rebounds, 6 steals, 4 blocks. Tunstill is enjoying a standout season in his first year as a Gryphon, with the geography major competing with the Fanshawe Falcons in the OCAA prior to arriving at U of G. Tunstill's athleticism was on display Friday night, with highlight reel dunks and blocks part of a stat-filled night for the standout guard. With his 6 steals on the night, Tunstill also now leads all of U SPORTS with 48 steals on the season.
 
The Gryphons also received some sharp shooting from freshman guard, Amare Hamilton, who finished the night with 17 points (5-of-10 from 3-point).
 
The Gryphons (5-13) now have four games remaining in their 2024-25 OUA regular season schedule, and will be back on home court for the final home game of their season on Wednesday, Feb. 5 when they host the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (7-10). Guelph will then close out the season with three straight road games (Feb. 8 at Laurier, Feb. 14 & 15 at Algoma).
