The fast start from Guelph allowed them to settle into the game, outscoring Laurier 26-16 in the opening quarter as they would carry that momentum in their win. Eric Armstrong (New Hamburg, ON) with a team high 21 points and game high 9 rebounds. Third-year guard
Raef Wykes (Portland, ON) was exceptional coming off the bench for the Gryphons as he scored 19 points on 7-11 shooting on the field.
Amare Hamilton finished the game 15 points and
Shaathon Walker pitched in with 10 points in the team's 6th win of the season.
The Gryphons improve to 6-13 on the season as they remain in the hunt for a postseason spot with three games remaining on the OUA schedule, while the Golden Hawks drops to 8-11 on the season. Guelph and Laurier will wrap up their home-and-home on Saturday afternoon with tip from Waterloo scheduled for 3pm.
