WBB RECAP: Gryphons Split Weekend Road Trip to Windsor and Western

GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons women's basketball team were on the road for the first time this season for a pair of weekend road games at Windsor and Western. On Friday night (Nov. 7), the Gryphons went down to the wire with the Windsor Lancers, with Windsor pulling away late to win 65-59. On Saturday night (Nov. 8) at Western University in London, the Gryphons bounced back nice with a 10-point road win, defeating the Western Mustangs 79-69. The Gryphons now have a 4-2 record on the season, and sit in 2nd-place in the OUA West Division standings

Friday, Nov. 7, 2025 | Gryphons Unable to Hold Off Late Lancers 4th Quarter Run

On Friday night (Nov. 7) from the University of Windsor's Toldo Lancer Centre, the Gryphons and Lancers met in the first of two head-to-head meetings this season. A tightly-contested matchup between the two OUA West Division rivals would ultimately go the host's way, as the Lancers were able to pull away down the stretch to come away with the 65-59 win over Guelph. Gryphons fourth-year guard, Hannah Bourdon, gave Guelph the 59-58 lead with 3:39 left in the 4th quarter, but it would prove to be the Gryphons final points of the game, as the Lancers would close out the game scoring the final 7 points, with the Windsor defence limiting the Gryphons to 7 points in the final quarter. Christina Morra led the way for the Gryphons, with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025 | A 19-2 2nd Quarter Run Propels Gryphons to Road Win over Western

Following the tough loss on Friday night, the Gryphons bounced back nicely on Saturday night (Nov. 8) in London when they took on the Western Mustangs. With the score tied at 22-22 to open the 2nd quarter, Guelph would go on a 19-2 run and would not look back from there en route to a 79-69 victory over the Mustangs. The Gryphons outscored Western 23-11 in the 2nd quarter and held them without a basket for the first six minutes of that quarter. Guelph had balanced scoring attack throughout the night with four players in double-digits led by Christina Morra's game-high 24 points on 10-17 shooting from the field. Hannah Bourdon had a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double, Macy Weber finished with 16 points and Alexis Wright nearly had herself a triple-double finishing with 11 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds.

The Gryphons (4-2) return home to the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre on Friday night (Nov. 14) when they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves (2-4) before going on the road to the University of Toronto to take on the Varsity Blues (2-4) on Saturday (Nov. 15).
