GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons men's hockey team hosted a pair of games from the Gryphon Centre over the weekend where they came away with wins over the York Lions (Oct. 30) and Brock Badgers (Nov. 1).
Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025 | Two Late Gryphon Goals Leads to Victory in High Scoring Game vs York
On Thursday night, the Gryphons played host to the York Lions in an entertaining, high scoring game. With the score tied at 2-2 heading to the third period, both teams would combine to score six goals in the period as a pair of goals in a span of 56 seconds as Jack Wismer's scored second goal of the game and Gio Biondi added another one to give the hosts a 4-2 lead, 95 seconds into the period. Owen Gilhula got the visitors within one when he scored his second goal of the night at 13:58 mark of the period. York would press for the equalizer and would get it when Brendan McCarthy drew the Lions level with 1:38 left in regulation. The tie game was short-lived as the Gryphons would press on the other end of the ice as
Dylan Hudon was in
the right spot in the right time to fire the rebound past Dawson Smith to give Guelph the lead. The Gryphons would seal the win 11 seconds later when
Ethan Doyle broke in behind the Lions defence and
slid his backhand home to ensure the 6-4 win for the Gryphons and their first win on home ice this season.
Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025 | Gryphons Ride a Four Goal Opening Period to Sweep Home Doubleheader
The Gryphons rode the momentum from Thursday's victory against York into their matchup against the Brock Badgers on Saturday night as it didn't take long for the Gryphs get on the scoresheet.
Griffin Wilson opened the scoring 3:21 into the game as
he buried the one-timer from
Julien Gervais to give his side an 1-0 lead. The fourth-year real estate major would double the Gryphon lead when he'd score his third goal of the season in
very similar fashion on another one-timer.
Chase Lammi scored his third of the season on a
nice wrister on blocker side before Gio Biondi added another one just before the end of the period to give the hosts a commanding 4-0 lead at the intermisison. The Gryphons would cruise to a 9-3 victory with goals from
Dillon Stiles,
Dylan Hudon,
Nolan Dann,
Ian Ferguson and
Anthony Tabak.
Olivier Ciarlo made 27 saves for his third win of the season. The win for the Gryphons extends their win streak to a three games.
The Gryphons (5-3-1) will travel to Toronto for their lone game of the weekend when they take on the TMU Bold on Saturday night (Nov. 8) from Mattamy Athletic Centre.
