GUELPH, Ont. – Wednesday night (Nov. 19, 2025) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons women's basketball team defeated the McMaster Marauders, 73-65. With the win, the Gryphons improve to 7-2 on the and temporarily move into top spot in the
OUA West Division standings, with Guelph (7-2) now a 0.5 game up on the Windsor Lancers (6-2). With the loss, the McMaster Marauders fall to 1-8 on the season.
After McMaster took the lead midway through the 3rd quarter, the Gryphons responded nicely, with
Keryl Ousey and
Hannah Bourdon helping ensure Guelph took a slim two-point lead to the 4th quarter. The Gryphons would close out the game strong, outscoring McMaster 22-16 in the final quarter, with three different Gryphons scoring in double figures on the night. Fourth-year guards
Alexis Wright (Welland, ON) and
Hannah Bourdon (Fort Erie, ON) each finished with 16 points on the night, while forward
Christina Morra (Mississauga, ON) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. The Gryphons forced McMaster into 20 turnovers on the night (compared to just 8 turnovers committed by Guelph).
The Gryphons (7-2) have now won 3 in a row, and 5 of their last 6. Next up for the Gryphons, a Saturday afternoon (1pm) home matchup with the Brock Badgers (4-3). Saturday's matchup versus Brock marks the final home game of the calendar year for the Gryphons (7-2), who will then hit the road to close out the 2025 portion of their schedule with away games at Laurier (Nov. 26) and Waterloo (Nov. 28).
