GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons men's volleyball team extended their win streak to four games following a pair of weekend 3-1 home wins over the RMC Paladins from the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.
Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 | Gryphons Open Up Weekend with Four Set Win
The Gryphons on Saturday afternoon, defeated the RMC Paladins in four sets with set scores of 25-16, 18-25, 25-22, 25-16. After the Gryphons and Paladins split the first two sets of the match, the third set proved to be the most critical. With the score tied at 12-12, Guelph would win 9 of the next 13 points to build a 21-16 lead. RMC would battle back cutting the lead down to one at 23-22 but two errors from the visitors saw the Gryphons take a tight 25-22 third set as they would close out the match on a 7-2 run in the final set to wrap up the win. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 | Liam Kinahan's 20 Kill Game Leads Gryphons to Weekend Sweep
On Sunday afternoon, the Gryphons completed the weekend sweep over the Paladins in another four set victory with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19. Guelph won the 7 of the final 8 points in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match. RMC would return the favour in the third set as they went on an 8-2 run at end of the third to extend the match. Liam Kinahan took over. Kinahan was instrumental in the final set, posting 7 of his game high 20 kills of the match as it was enough for his side to push through for the four set victory. Kinahan, the Waterloo native finished with 23.5 points and hit .302% in the match.
Killian Donovan had 12 kills in the win to go along with 11 digs.
The Gryphons (4-2) will make the trip to Hamilton to take on the McMaster Marauders for a weekend doubleheader on Friday (Nov. 21) and Saturday (Nov. 22).
