WATERLOO, Ont. - The Gryphons men's hockey team remain unbeaten on the road as they defeat the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 4-1 on Friday night (Oct. 24) at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex. Nolan Dann scored with the man advantage to give Guelph the 1-0 lead.
Chase Lammi doubled the Gryphon lead at the 4:49 mark of the second. With the Gryphs leading 2-1 in the second,
Julien Gervais would come through and score on the power play to restore his team's two goal advantage. Kaeden Johnson off the pass from
Justin Barker scored five minutes into the third to seal the 4-1 win for Guelph.
Nathan Allensen had a big night from the Gryphon blue line, picking up three assists in the win. The Gryphons' special teams were excellent, going 2-for-5 on the power play.
Cal Schell was also excellent in the Gryphon net stopping 16 of 17 shots. With the win, the Gryphons maintain their unblemished record on road to open the season, winning all three games away from home as they Laurier their first loss of the season after the Golden Hawks won six straight games to open their season.
The Gryphons (3-3-1) are back home for a pair of games at the Gryphon Centre when they host the York Lions on Thursday night (Oct. 30) and the Brock Badgers on Saturday (Nov. 1).
