LONDON, Ont. - The Gryphons women's volleyball team is off to a 1-1 start to the 2025-26 season after splitting a pair of weekend games in London against the Western Mustangs. The Gryphons made their way to Western University's Alumni Hall on Friday night (Oct. 24) for the opening game of their 2025-26 OUA regular season schedule, with the Gryphons winning in 4-sets (23-25, 25-23, 25-23 & 25-23).
Sloane Fortin and
Brooke Preszcator helped lead the way with 14 points each, while
Alexandra Nicholson-Clarke (13 points) and
Maia Dan (11.5 points) both made big contributions in a tightly-contested season-opening victory for the Gryphons.;
On Saturday night (Oct. 25), the Western Mustangs bounced back, winning in 4-sets to split the weekend series.
Ainsley Preszcator led the Gryphons in points on Saturday night (15 points, 13 kills). The Gryphons (1-1) will return to action on Friday, November 7 when they host the Trent Excalibur at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre in their 2025-26 home opener.
