GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons women's volleyball team played host to the Trent Excalibur over the weekend (Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025) in their first regular season home games of the 2025-26 season, with Guelph earning back-to-back straight set victories over Trent to sweep the weekend series and improve to 3-1 on the season.
Friday, Nov. 7, 2025 | Gryphons Earn Straight Sets Victory in 2025-26 Home Opener
On Friday night (Nov. 7), the Gryphons were on their home court for the first time in the 2025 regular season when they hosted the Trent Excalibur, where Guelph was able to come away with the comfortable straight sets victory with set scores of 25-19, 25-18 & 25-17. Leading the way for the Gryphons on Friday night was
Jordan Vang (Kitchener, ON) who led all players with 15.5 points with her game-high 12 kills.
Payton King was all over the floor with 17 digs including a memorable dig that landed for a kill for the libero. The Gryphons front row impressed on the night with seven blocks.
Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025 | Gryphons Sweep Weekend Homestand with Straight Sets Win Over Trent
The Gryphons continued their strong play on Saturday night (Nov. 8) as they swept Trent in straight sets with sets score of 25-8, 25-21 & 25-18. Guelph got off to a strong start in the opening set as they had 15 kills on 22 attempts and hit a blistering .545%. With Trent building a little momentum in the 3rd set with the score 9-9,
Avery Sentance would come into the match as service sub and flip the match around as her serve caused the Excalibur problems leading to five straight Gryphon points, including an ace to put the Gryphs in front 15-9 as they would close out the match in straight sets. Sentance's ace was one of eight Gryphon aces in the match.
Jordan Vang and
Maia Dan led the Gryphs with 14 points each. Vang had 13 kills on the match while Dan had 10 kills to go along with her team-high 4 aces. Second-year outside hitter
Sloane Fortin capped off the trio of Gryphs with double-digit points in the win, scoring 13 points with 12 kills.
The Gryphons women's volleyball team are on the road next week as they make the trip to the Royal Military College in Kingston to face the RMC Paladins. The Gryphons (3-1) will face the RMC Paladins (0-6) on Friday night (Nov. 14) at 7pm in Kingston, followed by a Saturday afternoon (Nov. 15) matchup in Kingston with RMC at 2pm.
