GUELPH, Ont. – Saturday night (Oct. 25, 2025) in Guelph, the Carleton Ravens held off the Gryphons women's basketball team, 54-51, in a hard-fought matchup at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre. With the loss, the Gryphons fall to 1-1 on the season while the Ravens improve to 1-0. One night after taking down the reigning OUA champion Ottawa Gee-Gees, the Gryphons women's basketball team returned to the court to face another tough test in the Carleton Ravens. Carleton, winners of two of the past three national titles in U SPORTS women's basketball (2022-23 and 2023-24), arrived in Guelph well-rested with Saturday night's matchup marking their first game of the 2025-26 regular season schedule. But it was the Gryphons who got off to a flying start on Saturday night, with Guelph outscoring Carleton 18-5 in the opening quarter of play. The Ravens would bounce back from there, outscoring Guelph 22-11 in the 2nd quarter and 21-10 in the 3rd quarter to take the lead. The Gryphons continued to push, with Guelph limiting the Ravens to just 6 points in the final quarter. The Gryphons were trailing by 11 points at the beginning of the 4th quarter, but they would continue to chip into the deficit. With around 3 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, a
Hannah Bourdon jumper and a
Hannah Bourdon three-pointer made it a 1-point game, with Carleton's lead down to 52-51. But a lay-in from Carleton's Kyana-Jade Poulin made it a 54-51 lead for the Ravens, and the Gryphons were unable to complete the comeback from there, with Carleton hanging on for the three-point road win.
Gryphons fourth-year guard
Hannah Bourdon led all scorers with 22 points to go along with 9 rebounds. The Gryphons (1-1) will be back on home court again next weekend for a pair of games, beginning with a Halloween night matchup versus the Algoma Thunderbirds (0-2) on Friday, Oct. 31 at 6pm. The Gryphons will then host the Waterloo Warriors (1-0) on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 6pm. Tickets for both games can be secured online at gryphons.ca/tickets.
