GUELPH, Ont. – The No. 10-ranked Guelph Gryphons women's basketball team used a 16-3 run in the second half to pull away from the Western Mustangs en route to a 75-65 victory on Wednesday night (Jan. 22) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre. Gryphons fourth-year forward,
Lucy Tesseyman (London, ON), led all scorers with 19 points on 9-12 shooting, with teammates
Alexis Wright and
Renee Armstrong each adding 16 points. With the win, the Gryphons improve to 12-4 on the season and move into top spot in the OUA West Division standings, while the Western Mustangs fall to 10-6. It marks Guelph's second win in less than a week over the Mustangs, with Guelph also defeating Western back on Jan. 17 in London.
The Gryphons (12-4) now have six games remaining in their 2024-25 OUA regular season schedule, with the next three games also coming on their home court. The No. 10-ranked Gryphons will host the Waterloo Warriors (6-8) on Saturday (Jan. 25), with tip at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre set for 4pm.
