The Gryphons enter Week 5 with a 3-1 record
after defeating the McMaster Mauraders, 29-24, on Sept. 14. Guelph enters this week inside the national Top 10 rankings, sitting at
No. 10 in the latest U SPORTS polls, while the 3-1 Queen's Gaels hold down the No. 8 ranking in the U SPORTS Top 10. The Gaels are coming off a 48-20 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees last week. The Gryphons have to beware of a very opportunistic Gaels team, with Queen's scoring two defensive touchdowns and returning a missed field goal back for a touchdown in their win over the Gee-Gees. Queen's boasts one of the top defences in the OUA, holding their opponents to 21.5 points-per-game and limiting the opposition to 360.3 yards-per-game. The Gryphon offence will test this stingy Gaels defence, especially in the run game. Guelph has the OUA's best rushing attack, leading the conference in total rushing yards (938), yards-per-game (234.5) and yards-per-rush (7.4).
Donavin Milloy will lead the Gryphon run game after returning from injury last week rushing for 64 yards on 7 carries with a TD. Second-year standout,
Caleb Sargeant, and 2022 OUA Rookie of the Year,
Isaiah Smith, round out a three-headed monster at running back in the Gryphon backfield.
Sophomore receier,
Willem Arseneau (Calgary, AB), leads the way in the Gryphon receiving corps, with the second-year arts major coming off an impressive game against McMaster in which he hauled in 5 catches for 91 yards with a touchdown.
The Gryphon defence will look to pick up where they left off last week in a strong performance against the Marauders. The Guelph defence, under the guidance of first-year defensive coordinator Matt Berry, has limited the opposition to 367.5 yards-per-game and only allowing 23 points-per-game.

One of the big performers in the front seven last week,
Robert Keyes-Wilson, will look for a repeat performance after his 2.5 sack game.
Anthony Moretuzzo has excelled in his role at the hybrid linebacker/defensive back position as he's 9th in the conference with 18.5 tackles and has two interceptions on the season.
Kyle Simon-Guerin look to continue his fine play in the secondary after the interception last week as he's 4th on the team with 11.5 tackles.
The Gryphons and Gaels faced off last season on Oct. 14, 2023, with the Gaels narrowly edging out the Gryphons 24-17. Queen's leads the all-time head-to-head 16-7, with the last Guelph win coming on Oct. 19, 2019 in a 27-24 overtime road win.
