GUELPH, Ont. – The No. 10-ranked Gryphons women's basketball team picked up a pair of decisive home court wins on the final weekend of OUA regular season play before the holiday break, with Guelph defeating the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday (Nov. 29) followed by a win over the York Lions on Saturday (Nov. 30). The Gryphons (8-3) are now tied with the Windsor Lancers (8-3) for the top spot in the OUA West Division standings. The Gryphons OUA regular season play will resume in the new year, with the McMaster Marauders set to visit Guelph on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 to tip off the second half of the 2024-25 OUA season.

Gryphons 84 – Ontario Tech 68
Friday night (Nov. 29) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons women's basketball team took care of business against the visiting Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, with the No. 10-ranked Gryphons using a balanced attack in a convincing win over the Ridgebacks (1-9). The Gryphons led by 14-points at halftime, and finished the game with four different players scoring in double figures, with
Hannah Bourdon leading the way with 16 points.
Keryl Ousey (14 points) and
Julia Colavecchia (13 points) chipped in, while
Renee Armstrong finished 1 assist shy of a triple-double (12 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists). The victory marked Guelph's seventh win of the season, with the Gryphons improving to 7-3 on the season following their Friday night win over Ontario Tech.
Game 2 | Saturday, Nov. 30 vs York Lions
Gryphons 91 – York 59
24 hours after their win over Ontario Tech, the Gryphons returned to their home court for another convincing victory, this time over the York Lions (3-7). The Gryphons connected on 14-made three pointers on the night, with
Julia Colavecchia (17 points, 3-8 from beyond) and
Hannah Bourdon (16 points, 4-7 from beyond) helping lead the way. The Gryphons exploded for 32 points in the opening quarter, hitting 6 three-pointers in the opening quarter, helping Guelph take a commanding 32-16 lead into the 2nd quarter. The Gryphons also impressed on the defensive end, limiting the Lions to just 26% shooting from the field on the night.
The Gryphons (8-3) return to OUA action on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 with a home matchup versus the McMaster Marauders (7-4).
