GUELPH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons men's volleyball team came up with a pair of important victories over the Brock Badgers this weekend, with Guelph defeating the Badgers on back-to-back nights at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. The Gryphons started the weekend off with a straight sets victory on Friday night, with fifth-year right side,
Alexander Odle, leading the way with 13 points and 11 kills. The Gryphons would carry that momentum into their Saturday evening matchup with the Badgers, where
Cameron Chadwick (20.5 points),
Alexander Odle (20 points) and
Liam Kinahan (18 points) would lead a balanced Gryphon attack in a four-set victory, highlighted by a marathon of a third set where Guelph would eventually outlast the Badgers 36-34. Set scores in Guelph's Saturday night victory over the Badgers were 25-22, 20-25, 36-34 & 25-21. With the two wins over Brock, the Gryphons improve to 3-5 on the season, while Brock sees their record fall to 3-5. The Gryphons will look to get their record back to .500 next week, when they welcome the RMC Paladins (0-7) to the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre for a pair of games on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23.
