THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Gryphons men's hockey team made the trip to Thunder Bay this weekend for a pair of games versus the Lakehead Thunderwolves. After a back-and-forth first game on Friday, and lopsided, penalty-filled affair on Saturday, the Gryphons left Thunder Bay with a split of their weekend matchup with the Thunderwolves.
Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 | Gryphons Start Fast, Hold on for 4-3 Win Over Lakehead
On Friday night in Thunder Bay, the Gryphons were able to get their weekend off to a hot start, with four different goal scorers finding the back of the net for the Gryphons in the opening 40 minutes of play.

Julien Gervais and
Dylan Hudon helped Guelph build up a 4-0 lead heading to the 3rd period. The Thunderwolves would storm back with three goals of their own in the final period, but the Gryphons were able to hold on for the win, with foruth-year goalie,
Tanner Wickware, helping lead the way by turning away 44 of the 47 shots sent his way for the win.
Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024 | Thunderwolves Salvage Weekend Split
The host Thunderwolves were able to answer back on Saturday night in Thunder Bay, skating to a lopsided 9-1 win over the Gryphons. The game was filled not only with goals, but also penalties, with the two teams combining for 66 minutes of penalties, including three game misconducts.
With the two weekend results in the books, the Gryphons now sit at 7-7-0 at the midway point of the 2024-25 season, while Lakehead sits at 7-5-0 in the tightly-contested OUA West Division standings.
The Gryphons will return to the ice next weekend for a pair of home games, beginning with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, Nov. 22, followed by the Concordia Stingers coming to the Gryphon Centre Arena on Saturday, Nov. 23.
