GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons men's hockey team hosted a pair of games this weekend from the Gryphon Centre Arena against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday (Nov. 22) and Concordia Stingers on Saturday (Nov. 23). It was a tale of two games over the weekend for Guelph as a late goal propelled them to victory against Toronto on Friday, before being shutout on Saturday against the No. 2-ranked Concordia.
Friday, Nov. 22, 2024 | Late Goal Leads Gryphons to 4-3 Win Over Toronto
Friday night on home ice, the Gryphons would strike first, taking the lead in the second period with three different goal scorers finding the net.

Nolan Forster scored, helping the Gryphs build their 3-0 lead in the middle frame. However, 12 seconds following the Forster goal, Toronto scored to quell the momentum Guelph built up. The Varsity Blues would score twice in the third period to tie it up before the Gryphons retook the lead with under two minutes left when Julian Gervais scored off the rebound to put the hosts up 4-3. Gervais' second goal of the season would prove to be the winner for the Gryphs.
Nolan Dann led the way with 3 points in the win (1 goal, 2 assists) while
Tanner Wickware stopped 36 of the 39 shots he saw in the win.
Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 | Gryphons Stung in Home Loss to Stingers
Concordia, the No. 2-ranked team in the country shutout the Gryphons on Saturday night at the Gryphon Centre in their 7-0 win.
Cal Schell, the starting goalie was fantastic in the opening period stopping 26 of 27 shots as the Gryphs withstood the Concordia pressure, trailing by one at the intermission. The Stingers would open the game up midway through the second period scoring four goals to put the game away en route to a 7-0 win. Schell was busy all game and did well on the night, making 55 saves in the loss.
The Gryphons after splitting both home games sees their record at 8-8-0 in a tightly-contested OUA West Division. The Gryphons men's hockey team is back on the ice for the final time in 2024 before the winter break, when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 1).
