GUELPH, Ont. – On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, Ontario University Athletics (OUA) released the 2023-24 schedules for men's and women's basketball.
The Guelph Gryphons women's and men's varsity basketball teams will officially tip off their 2023-24 campaigns in early November as they welcome a pair of perennial powerhouse programs from the nation's capital to the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre to get the season officially underway. On Friday, November 3, 2023, the Gryphons will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees in their 2023-24 OUA regular season openers. The following day, the Gryphons will be right back at it on Saturday, November 4 when they play host to the Carleton Ravens.
The Carleton Ravens enter the new season as the reigning national champions on both the men's and women's sides, while the Ottawa Gee-Gees will head to Guelph in early November as the defending OUA champions on the women's side.
In total, the Guelph Gryphons women's and men's basketball teams will once again play a 22-game regular season schedule, with the 2023-24 OUA basketball playoffs set to begin in late February 2024 (preliminary round of OUA playoffs beginning on Wednesday, February 21, 2024). The 2023-24 OUA basketball season will culminate on Saturday, March 2, 2024 with the playing of the OUA's Critelli Cup (women's OUA title game) and Wilson Cup (men's OUA title game).
The Gryphons impressed a season ago, with both the U of G men's and women's basketball teams earning playoff victories and reaching the OUA quarterfinal stage in 2022-23. For more information on the
