OSHAWA, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons women's lacrosse team will head to Oshawa this weekend for the 2019 OUA Championship tournament (Oct. 18-20). The Gryphons begin play Friday afternoon with a 12:45pm opening round matchup versus York. The 10-team tournament is being hosted by Ontario Tech University with all games taking place at Vaso's Field in Oshawa.
The Gryphons, who posted a 2-11 record during the regular season, will look to build their 6th-place finish at the conference championships a season ago. Leading the way for the Gryphons in 2019 is Erin Murray, a fourth-year sociology major from Oakville who scored a team-high 24 goals during regular season play, to go along with 11 assists. Rookie Grace Shaughnessy impressed in her first season with the Gryphons, scoring 22 goals, while first-year midfielder Jade Barko (Chatham, ON) added 21 goals.
A win in their final game of the regular season over Brock allowed Guelph to finish 4th in the five-team OUA West division.
