MHKY: Gryphons Shutout on the Road in 2-0 Loss at Laurier

WATERLOO, Ont. –  The Guelph Gryphons men's hockey team suffered a 2-0 road loss Thursday night at the Waterloo Recreation Complex versus the Laurier Golden Hawks. The Hawks (3-7-0-0) jumped out to an early lead with a goal 3:23 into the opening period when Laurier's fourth-year defenceman Mac Clutsam beat Evan Cormier to give the hosts an early 1-0 lead. It would stay that way until midway through the final period when the Hawks pushed the lead to 2-0 on a goal from Jeremy Pullara.

The Gryphons outshot Laurier 42-29 on the night, including 19-5 in the 3rd period, but were unable to solve Hawks' rookie netminder Tyler Fassl, who recorded the first shutout of his career. The Gryphons will look to snap a five-game losing streak when they return to Waterloo on Saturday night (Nov. 10) for a 7pm puck drop against the Waterloo Warriors (2-6-1-1) at the Columbia Icefield Arena.
