BURLINGTON, Ont. - On Thursday, November 29, Ontario University Athletics (OUA) officially announced the 2019 regular season football schedule. The Gryphons will kickoff the 2019 campaign in late August with a home game against the McMaster Marauders in Week 1 (Sunday, Aug. 25).
All four of the Gryphons' 2019 home games will take place before the calendar turns to October, with McMaster (Aug. 25), York (Sept. 7), Western (Sept. 21) and Ottawa (Sept. 28) all set to visit U of G's Alumni Stadium. The 2019 edition of the Gryphon football Homecoming football game is set for Saturday, September 28 when the Gee-Gees come to Alumni Stadium for a 1pm kickoff.
The Gryphons will be tested right out of the gate, with five of their first six games coming against teams that made the playoffs in 2018, including a home date versus the defending Yates Cup champion Western Mustangs on September 21. The Gryphons will not face Laurier and Windsor in 2019, as both the Golden Hawks and Lancers were drawn as Guelph's non-combatants for next season.
Season tickets, as well as individual tickets, for the Gryphons' 2019 home games are now on sale online. Fans purchasing tickets from now until June 2019 will receive "early bird" discount rates ($15 for adults, $10 for alumni & seniors, $5 for youth ages 7 and up, kids 6 and under are free).
The winner of the 2019 Yates Cup will travel west to face the winner of the Canada West conference. While, for a second consecutive year, the Vanier Cup will be held in Quebec City at Laval's TELUS-UL Stadium.
