Lowy scored her fourth goal of the season on a pretty play just 64 seconds later, with
Claire Merrick and
Karli Shell grabbing assists.
The Gryphons couldn't find the back of the net early on but were rewarded late in the first period when Jay got her stick on a shot from
Cyan Roepcke. The Lancers were quick to answer as Ashley Maitre scored an equalizer with just 34 seconds left before the first intermission.
The late goal didn't deter Guelph, which retook the lead at 12:43 with a beautiful tip-in from Crossman on a
Laura Crowdis shot. Windsor would add its second of the gamewith just 24 seconds left in regulation as defenceman Rachel Chantler beat Beaulieu.
Turning Point
Crossman has been an offensive catalyst in the early going this season, showing a variety of skills. Her tip put the Gryphons up and they didn't relinquish the lead despite the late Windsor goal.
Gryphon Take
"It was a good team effort. We played a very complete game today and got scoring from all four of our lines. We also had to fight through a lot of special teams, especially early, and I was pleased with our penalty kill."–
head coach Rachel Flanagan
