WATERLOO, Ont. – Sunday afternoon in Waterloo, the Gryphons men's soccer team salvaged a 1-1 draw against the Laurier Golden Hawks thanks to a 90th minute strike from third-year forward
Johnson Amoo. Amoo, who transferred to Guelph two seasons ago after spending time in the NCAA with the Louisville Cardinals, created some space for himself with a clever turn just outside the 18-yard box before firing home a powerful right-footed strike. The Gryphon goal came with the visitors down to 10-men after second-year keeper Ryan Collins was sent off in the 84th minute following his second yellow card of the match.
Gryphon Take
"The boys looked leg weary after a tough game on Friday. This was Laurier's first game of the weekend and they were much fresher and better than us on the day. But all credit to our guys as they fought back with a late equalizer when we were down a goal and a man." ~ head coach Keith Mason
The Record
Guelph's record is 9-3-2
