TORONTO - Although the Spring of 2018 may seem like a long ways away, CFL scouts, player personnel directors and general managers have already begun preparing for the 2018 CFL Draft. And at least one member of the Gryphon football team is on their radar.
On Wednesday, August 30, the Canadian Football League (CFL) announced its first edition of this season's CFL Scouting Bureau List, with Gryphons fourth year offensive lineman
Andrew Pickett ranked No. 13 on the comprehensive list which ranks the top 20 eligible prospects (from both the NCAA and U SPORTS) for the 2018 CFL Draft.
Pickett, a Kitchener native who has twice been named an OUA Second Team All-Star during his Gryphon career, was
invited to the East-West Bowl this past Spring, but was forced to sit out due to a non-serious leg injury. Now fully healthy, the 6'4", 300 lbs guard is helping to once again anchor the Gryphon offensive line while also serving as one of the team captains. Pickett is one of only five players from the OUA to be named on the CFL Scouting Bureau list.
The CFL Scouting Bureau releases its rankings three times each year: in September, December and April. It is comprised of CFL scouts, player personnel directors and general managers from the league's nine teams. For more information, visit www.cfl.ca.
