U Sports Top 10: Men’s Track & Field Debut at No. 1


TORONTO, ON - On Tuesday, January 10, U Sports released its weekly Top 10 polls with a total of five Gryphon teams earning spots in the national rankings. 
 
The first Track & Field rankings of 2017 were officially released with the Gryphons well represented. The Men's Track & Field team is ranked No. 1 in the country while the Women's team is ranked No. 2. The U of G Track & Field athletes are now preparing to head to Windsor (Jan. 13 & 14) for the Can/Am Meet.
 
The Gryphons Women's Wrestling team remains ranked No. 3 in Canada and are preparing for a trip to St. Catharines for the Brock Open on Saturday (Jan. 14).
 
The U of G Women's Hockey team remain ranked No. 4 in the country and sit atop the OUA standings, five points clear of second place Nipissing, with a 12-2-1 record. The Gryphons have a pair of games this week with a home matchup versus Ryerson on Wednesday followed by a road trip to Oshawa on Saturday to face UOIT.
 
Rounding out the nationally ranked Gryphon teams is the Men's Volleyball team. The Gryphs dropped from No. 8 to No. 10 in the rankings following a loss to Brock this past Saturday. The Gryphons will now get set to host the four-time defending OUA champion McMaster Marauders on Saturday (Jan. 14).
