LONDON, ON - As far as weekend road trips are considered in OUA baseball, it doesn't come any tougher than this. After splitting a doubleheader with the defending OUA champion Western Mustangs on Saturday (Sept. 24) in London, the Gryphons traveled to St. Catharines on Sunday where they lost a pair of games against perennial powers Brock.
The Gryphons now sit at 5-5 on the season and find themselves in 5th place in the 10-team OUA standings. They now return home to Hastings Field for a doubleheader versus the Queen's Gaels (3-8) on Saturday, October 1st. Game times are set for 1pm and 3:30pm.

The weekend started off on a high note as the Gryphons were able to hand the defending OUA champion Mustangs a 7-4 defeat. Six different Gryphon batters picked up RBI's in the game while Matt Forer, Nick Interisano and Joe Ciccia each recorded multi-hit games.
Nate Kramer earned the win throwing six solid innings while
Jordon Inkol,
Denver Carter and
Grayson Wesley combined for three shutout innings of relief. The Gryphons were trailing 4-1 after 5 innings of play. But after getting two runs in the 6th, they would rally for 4 more in the 8th to Mustangs, who came into the game 6-0, their first loss of the 2016 season.
In Game 2, the Mustangs were able to get to Gryphons starter
Robert Wilson for 7 runs, 5 earned, over 3 innings of work en route to a 14-4 victory. In the loss,
Jake Gerovac and
Mason Copeland accounted for all four Gryphon runs by each finishing with a pair of RBI's.

In Game 1 on Sunday afternoon in St. Catharines, the Badgers used a 5-run, ,4th inning to help lift them to a 12-2 win. Sam Salemi got the start for U of G going 3.2 IP, giving up 7 runs, 4 earned. The Gryphons were limited to 4 hits over the 7 innings, with two of those coming off the bat of OUA All-Star Matt Forer who also had an RBI in the game.
Game 2 saw plenty of runs early on, with the Gryphons jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st, only to see the Badgers answer with 4 in the bottom half. Leadoff man Mason Copeland capped off a solid weekend by going 2-for-4 in the game, while relievers
Jordon Inkol,
Denver Carter and
Nick Interisano did a solid job in relife after starter
Liam Rivard was chased after 1.2 IP. With the two wins on Sunday, the Badgers now sit at 8-2 on the season.
