Guelph, ON – The Guelph Gryphons Women's Rugby team coasted to an 88-0 shutout over the Western Mustangs Saturday in Guelph. Guelph is now 2-0 on the season, while Western, who finished third in the CIS last season, stands at 1-1.
Fifth-year eighth man
Daria Keane (Sarnia, ON) paced the Gryphons with four tries, while third-year fullback
Alexandra King (Ottawa, ON) racked up 28 points, hitting nine of 14 conversion attempts, including several from sharp angles, with plenty of wind and rain to deal with. Contributions came throughout the lineup, including third-year wing
Emily Samek (Hamilton, ON), who had a great game, making sharp cuts and bowling over the opposition.
The Gryphons will next be in action next Friday, Sept. 25 when they travel to Waterloo to face the Laurier Golden Hawks.
