Guelph, Ont. – September 27 – The Gryphons defeated the McMaster Marauders Saturday afternoon in a pair of games at Hastings Field in Guelph. The Gryphons took the first game 14-10 and followed that up with a 9-7 victory in game two.
In the first game of the day the Gryphons took a 9-6 lead heading into the third inning. Guelph then went silent until a five-run eighth inning secured the 14-10 victory for the Gryphons.
Guelph was led in the offensive outburst by two-time league hitting champion Justin Interisano who knotched two hits in three at bat's including a six RBI's. At the mound, Stephen Friend started and lasted three innings with four strikeouts allowing eight hits. Backup J. Abram came in and played three innings allowing two runs and throwing three strikeouts.
In the second game of the day the Gryphons earned a 9-7 win over Toronto to sweep the McMaster Marauders on the day. The Gryphons doubled the Marauders in hits 12-6 on the day.
Guelph took an early 8-0 lead in the contest after three innings thanks to great pitching from Matt Hill who finished who threw four innings allowing four hits and throwing eight strikeouts. Leading the offence was Mitch Pike with two hits and four RBI's.
The Gryphons sit 9-3 on the season and play the Waterloo Warriors tomorrow in Waterloo for a doubleheader.
