Gryphons Win Twice on Weekend, Extend Overall Win Streak to Four

MEN'S LACROSSE

Guelph, Ont. (October 6, 2014)

The Gryphon men's lacrosse team continued its slow climb up the standings ladder this weekend with a 15-5 win over Laurier on Saturday, Oct. 4 followed by a 21-6 win over Nipissing on Sunday, Oct. 5.  The wins moved the Gryphons from 7th to 4th place in the West Division.

Despite facing two opponents that they had already beaten earlier in the season, the Gryphons set out to play focused, disciplined lacrosse.  In both games, Guelph's starting lineup dominated their opponent on both sides of the ball, leading 9-1 at the half against Laurier and 17-0 at the half against Nipissing.

On Sunday, the Gryphons stumbled in the second half against Nipissing allowing their opponent to outscore them 6-3.  "We lost our focus in the second half and allowed ourselves to get off of our game," commented Coach Kosakowski following the game.  "We took some penalties that we shouldn't have and gave Nipissing too much time with the ball.  Otherwise, we played very well."

Guelph moves to a 4-3 record on the season and will face McMaster Friday, October 10th at home.  Game time is 7pm at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
