Brampton, Ont. – Ally Chute (Greenfield Park, Que.) scored twice and Morgan Kelley (Milton, Ont.) turned aside every shot she faced as the Guelph Gryphons defeated the Queen's Gaels 3-0 to advance to the OUA Field Hockey Championship.
Guelph will now take on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in the final on Sunday at Cassie Campbell Community Centre in Brampton, Ont.
Forward Ally Chute opened the scoring for the Gryphons in the 12th minute. Chute, a 2-time all-star led the Gryphons with 11 goals in the regular season. Ciara Condon (London, Ont.) would extend the Gryphons lead to 2-0 in the 40th minute before Chute would add another and ultimately put the game out of reach.
The Blues and Gryphons met twice during the regular season with Toronto winning both close matchups, 2-1 on September 21st and 3-2 on October 5th.
Guelph and Toronto are the perennial powerhouses in OUA field hockey with either team having won the championship since 2004.
