Toronto - The Men's Lacrosse team squeaked out a 14-11 win in Toronto this evening.  With the win, the Gryphons are now 5-1 at the halfway point of the season.

Overall, it was not one of the team's better performances.  They turned the ball over more than 20 times, took a myriad of penalties and at times when the power play could have given them a lift, it struggled. On two occasions, the Gryphons had long man advantage situations but turned the ball over and did not register a shot.

With the game tied going into the fourth quarter Guelph had a battle on its hands that it wasn't prepared for.  Ben Vangalen, the league's strongest face off specialist, fouled out of the game and Brendan Vogan and rookie longstick Nick Wordtmann had to step in to take draws. The two did well despite not having seen much time at the position.

The teams exchanged several goal and when Guelph finally was able to manage to get back to a two goal lead, goaltender Jeremy Snider made some key stops to keep the game out of reach.

Guelph will have to regroup quickly as the are on the bus to Sudbury tomorrow morning to face Laurentian at 1:30.
