The Guelph Gryphon's women's lacrosse team improved their season record to 8-1 after they swept a home weekend. The Gryphon's downed the Queen's Golden Gaels, York Lions and the Brock Badgers all in a convincing manner this past Saturday and Sunday in Guelph.
 
First up for the Gryphon's was a rematch of last weekends exciting match against Queen's. Jade Sullivan opened up the scoring which had the Gryphon's take the lead and never lose it throughout the game. Constant pressure by the team's outstanding defence caused many Queens Gaels turnovers, many created through the speedy chase and precision checking of Alyssa Nevills. Final score was 15-5
 
The second day saw the Gryphon's first take on the York Lions.The Gryphon's opened up the scoring early and often, jumping out to an 8-0 lead before the Lions could answer back. The Gryphon's attack was multi-faceted with multiple players contributing in the scoring column. Rookie Laurel McGillis recorded her first career hat-trick as a Gryphon. Final score was 17-3
 
The final game of the weekend had the Gryphon's down the Badgers by a score of 12-4. Constant defensive pressure forced Badger turnovers which the Gryphon's were able to capitalize on. Once again Laurel McGillis frequented the scoresheet tallying 5 goals.
 
"I was happy to see the team play controlled games throughout the weekend with both the offensive and defensive ends dictating play," said Gryphon head coach Steph Green. "With a strong veteran squad anchoring the Gryphons were we able to expose some of our rookie athletes to game situation developing depth throughout the roster."
