The Guelph Women's Lacrosse team had an outstanding weekend improving their overall season record to 3-1-1, and their OUA record to 2-1-1.
The Gryphons first took on the perennial powerhouse, Queen's Gaels. The score went back and forth all game until Queen's finally settled the score scoring a late goal to tie the Gryphons. The team played well in all aspects of the game. Scoring for the Gryphons were Alyssa Neveills, Dana Skyvington and game all-star Breanne Gillie all notching three each.
The Gryphons next opponent was the second year program from UOIT. The Gryphons ran a very balanced attack as well as another solid game on defence. The Gryphons won their second game of the season 18-4. Scoring for the Gryphons were: Jade Sullivan, Dana Skyvington and Breanne Gillie all with three goals each, Amy Johnson and game all-star Katelyn Cartwright with two goals each, Danielle Boudreau, Julie Bryan, Stacey Pogue, Jessica Smith and Sam Silva all with one goal each.
The final opponent of the weekend was the McGill Martlets. McGill is not part of the OUA this season, so it was an exhibition game for the Gryphons and an opportunity for more game experience. The Gryphons held off a feisty McGill squad and won 15-8. Again the Gryphons showed they have a very balanced attack and had many players appearing in the scoring column. Dana Skyvington and Breanne Gillie each scored three, Amy Johnson and Alyssa Nevills scorring a pair each, Katelyn Cartwright, Jade Sullivan, Stacey Pogue and game all-star Sam Silva each tallying one.
Next up for the Gryphons are the Ridgebacks, Golden Hawks and Varsity Blues at the University of Toronto.
