Gryphons outscore Marauders & pick up pair of victories


In their second last doubleheader of the 2010 regular season, the Guelph Gryphons won 10-3 and 14-2 decisions over the McMaster Marauders at Bernie Arbour Stadium in Hamilton.

Guelph jumped up the board early with three runs within the first two innings. The Marauders tied the game after scoring their first single run in the bottom of the second and an additional two in the fourth.  Guelph outscored McMaster 7-0 in the final three innings to take game one.

Steve Fleischer lead the Gryphons with two runs while Craig Howse also earned two runs.

Guelph's Lucas Borges earned the win allowing only three runs in nine innings with four hits.

Andrew Morales (Wasaga Beach, Ont.) added two more RBI's to his 2010 totals and now leads his team with nine.  Sean Lemon (Mississauga, Ont.) batted in the additional runner on a double and crossed the plate himself alongside of Alex McGregor's (Ottawa) two.

In game two, Guelph cashed their 14 runs in the first four innings, including six in the third inning alone.  McMaster mustered two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn't nearly enough to catch up to the Gryphons.

The Gryphons were led by Richard Horne with three runs while Andrew Lindley earned the win in five innings of play, allowing only two runs.

The loss drops Mac to 4-10 this season while Guelph sits at 8-6.

Guelphwill travel to the Western next Saturday, October 2, to finish off the regular season against the league leading Mustangs.
