Gryphons impressed with Thanksgiving Weekend performance

The Gryphons Women's Lacrosse Team had a winning Thanksgiving weekend going 2-1.

On Saturday the team split games with Toronto and Western. The first game had the Gryphons come out flying against the Varsity Blues winning 15-10. Rookie Jade Sullivan netted five goals and Stacey Pogue scored four. Rookie Julie Bryan scored her first goal as a Gryphon. The team played very well on defence only allowing their top two scorers four goals total.

The next game of the day saw the Gryphons against the defending OUA Champion, Western Mustangs. The Mustangs held the Gryphons to only four goals and their continuous attack wore the Gryphons down. Scoring for the Gryphons were Staci Morris with two goals and Dana Skyvington and Stacey Pogue with one each. Final Score was 15-4.

Sunday had the Gryphons playing their rematch game against the UOIT Ridgebacks. The
Gryphons controlled the majority of the game and won 9-2. The midfield played well in preventing UOIT from clearing the ball out of their own end, and helping to maintain possession. Scoring for the Gryphons was spread out with many players contributing for the win, with veteran Staci Morris scored three.

Next up for the Gryphons is a rematch against Toronto, and their first look at the league leading Queen's Golden Gaels October 17th at the University of Toronto.
